Teaming Up for Optimal Health
Most chiropractors regard the elimination of symptoms as the easiest part of a patient's care. If a chiropractor reduces the patient's pain and stops there, the chances of the condition recurring are much greater. In order to prevent a rapid recurrence of symptoms, it is necessary to continue receiving corrective care even though your symptoms may be improving or gone altogether.
At Fay-West Chiropractic, we like to say that once you are feeling better, this is when we can finally START to get you better. Getting patients out of pain is just the beginning. True correction of the underlying causes of the pain and dysfunction can only be accomplished by performing rehabilitation.
Dr. Homonai has over 300 hours of post-graduate training in rehabilitative techniques and strategies. He is the only doctor in the Fay-West area to have additional certification from the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board, the organization that trains doctors to become specialists in rehabilitation.
During this corrective/ restorative phase of your care, you will no longer need to return to the office for 2-3 treatments each week. Instead, you may be able to begin doing specific exercises and stretches at home to help accelerate your healing. The doctors at Fay-West Chiropractic realize that every patient's case is different - especially when it comes to rehabilitation. Exercises that might be great for one person could be harmful to another person. This is why it is important to seek care from a rehabilitation expert who can customize a rehabilitation plan based upon your own muscle weaknesses or imbalances. Too frequently we see patients come to our office because they were given improper stretches/ exercises to perform or they were given good exercises but were not shown how to perform them properly.
Do not be discouraged if you have mild flare-ups on occasion. This is normal. Depending on the severity of your injury or condition and how long you have been suffering from it, this phase of your care may last anywhere from several months to a year.
